Weird pregnancy symptoms

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but it can bring on some weird pregnancy symptoms.

There are all kinds of symptoms. There’s the common pregnancy symptoms, like back pain. There’s the not so bad symptoms that you may actually miss. Last but not least are the weird pregnancy symptoms. The ones that make you say “woah, that can’t be normal!”

All pregnancies are different and come bearing different symptoms.

This list is full of strange pregnancy symptoms I either experienced first hand or have heard about through women I know.

Weather this is your first pregnancy or one of many, it is better to be prepared for what weird pregnancy symptoms may lie ahead.

Weird Pregnancy Symptoms

CRAMPS

While I had heard about cramping during pregnancy, I thought it was always a sign that something was wrong.

When I started experiencing some mild cramping early in my pregnancy, I was super worried. I walked on eggshells for weeks until my first appointment.

After talking with my doctor, he assured me that some mild cramping can be normal as long as it’s not accompanied by blood.

If mild cramping is one of your pregnancy symptoms, try not to overthink it. Most of the time it’s totally normal and it does not mean anything is wrong!

DIARHEA

You may have heard that constipation is common among pregnant women. Well, did you know diarrhea can also pay a visit?

When taking prenatal vitamins, the increased iron in your diet can sometimes trigger some constipation. Unfortunately for some, it is the opposite, and they end up with diarrhea.

Neither constipation nor diarrhea are my idea of fun, but that’s pregnancy for ya.

EXPANDING

Nope, I’m not talking about your belly or your hips.

As your belly expands, sometimes it likes to ask a few friends to tag along, like your nose for example.

While looking over the pictures from my baby shower, there was something off about my face that I just couldn’t put my finger on.

Finally, I realized my nose had gotten a lot wider throughout my pregnancy (and it wasn’t exactly small to begin with).

As if that is not enough, your feet may grow too! Yep, you heard right. Your feet may grow up to a whole size during pregnancy.

But don’t fret, this doesn’t effect all women. In most cases everything will go right back to normal after you have the baby.

ACNE

I was so excited for the pregnancy glow. You know the one. The one where you walk in a room and all eyes are on your glowing, radiant skin.

I’m not sure what happened, but somehow it skipped me. Instead, the pregnancy hormones greeted me with acne.

The hormones also sprinkled in some blackheads, you know, to pull the look together.

Occasionally a well meaning, kind soul would compliment me by saying I was glowing. I just smiled, because i really did appreciate the lie.

DECREASED SEX DRIVE

Yet another common symptom that can sometimes be the exact opposite. It is said that the hormones in pregnancy can often cause a higher sex drive, and even make sex more pleasurable for some.

However, many pregnant women actually experience lower sex drive and sometimes painful sex.

It can be totally normal to experience lower sex drive in pregnancy. It should return to normal after you have the baby!

HEIGHTENED SENSE OF SMELL

Do you all the sudden have the nose of a bloodhound? You can thank Pregnancy for your new sense of smell!

It is not uncommon for pregnant women to develop a heightened sense of smell, but it is still weird, nonetheless.

If you find some smells too strong for your new nose, this site suggests finding a smell you can tolerate and carrying it with you. They call it an “emergency smell-saver.”

This smell-saver can be especially helpful if certain smells make you nauseous.

RASHES

Pregnancy can really effect your skin. This is especially true for the mamas who develop a rash with pregnancy.

The rash can be itchy and bothersome, but normally goes away shortly after you give birth.

This rash is typically called PUPPS and is not dangerous. You can read more about PUPPS here.

STRANGE DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES

Of all the weird pregnancy symptoms, I find this one the strangest. Pregnancy can do a lot to disturb your sleep, and strange dreams are just icing on the cake.

A lot of pregnant women dream about giving birth, the sex of their baby, and other pregnancy related things.

Pregnant women can also dream of tons of things unrelated to pregnancy. Sometimes the dreams are frightening and cause the some serious lack of sleep.

If you experience vivid dreams during your pregnancy, just try to remember that the dreams don’t mean anything. After all, they are just that: dreams.

While not everyone experiences weird pregnancy symptoms, they are certainly fun to share amongst other moms!

What whacky pregnancy symptoms did you experience?

It’s not secret that pregnancy causes some weird symptoms. During early pregnancy all the way to the third trimester, you are bound to experience some crazy sometimes somewhere in between. Here are 8 weird pregnancy symptoms that you won’t expect!
