Once they get the news that you are expecting, everyone has their list of must haves that you need before your baby arrives.
You will probably be surprised how many different baby items get recommended to you! However, when you check the price tags on some of these items, you’re left wondering if you could do without! No worries, as a mom who has been there, I am here to share with you my top ten must have baby items!

This is number one because I do not know if I could have functioned without it, seriously. My baby practically lived in hers if we weren’t holding her!
I was gonna buy a small, budget friendly swing but my mom bought me this swing as a baby shower gift and I couldn’t be happier with it!
I am so glad she didn’t cut corners on finding the right swing, and the fact that it doubles as a bouncer is just icing on the cake.
If you don’t have the money to shell out on the best model, at the very least, buy one that swings back and forth and side to side!
You will be grateful when baby starts to fuss and you just turn it the other way and they are content again!
This one may seem obvious, and for some, it is. Everyone on my mom forums were going on and on about their fancy travel systems, but not me.
I said to my husband, and I quote, “I can not think of a single occasion that I will need a stroller.” Yes, I said that, and yes, I have regrets.
Now that my daughter is four months old and getting very heavy in that infant seat, I can think of a million occasions I would need a stroller!
If I can stop just one person from making the same mistake I did, then I would be just tickled.
Get a stroller, seriously. It will be your best friend.
Weird little invention, but oh so useful! “Allergy season” has hit full force, and my poor baby is pretty snotty some days.
The bulb syringe from the hospital was barely getting anything out of her nose, and she could not stand it!
She cried as soon as she saw me pick it up. Finally, I made it to Walmart and picked up the Nose Frieda and was quickly texting everyone about how much I loved it.
(You know you’re a mom when you get excited about a snot sucker.)
Anyways, this little doodad gets out all the snot quickly, and with very little protest from my daughter.
It’s not her favorite thing in the world, but she doesn’t scream when I’m doing it, like with the bulb syringe, so I’m gonna call it a win.
The Nose Frieda is without a doubt the grossest must have baby item that I recommend to everyone.
After a few weeks of washing endless bottles and all their annoying little parts (I used Dr. Browns) I decided to throw my bottles in the dishwasher.
It worked well, except a bottle lid fell off the top rack and melted in the bottom of my dishwasher.
Since I don’t always have the room in the dishwasher for one of those baskets and did not want to waste water and electricity by using it for just bottles, I decided the sterilizer would be a better option.
I love the sterilizer and use it once or twice a day! Who has time to stand around washing and boiling bottles when you have a newborn? Not me!
SWADDLE BLANKETS/SLEEP SACKS
My daughter was a pretty good sleeper, but she would still sometimes jump in her sleep and wake herself!
I bought the Halo Sleepsack on sale at a resale shop and it is still the best bargain I scored during my pregnancy!
I loved how easy it was to get a nice, tight swaddle that I couldn’t achieve with a regular receiving blanket.
Now that she’s older, we love using it as a wearable blanket, especially since my baby loves kicking her blankets and socks off then crying because her little feet get cold.
When she outgrows this one, I will be buying another in the next size up!
Unpopular opinion here, (at least I think, I don’t have many mom friends) I think baby carriers are ugly.
The traditional ones I’ve seen were not only ugly, but they looked uncomfortable.
Turns out I just hadn’t looked hard enough, there’s plenty of cute ones out there! I was gifted one that me nor my baby like, and I am currently saving up to by an adorable, comfy one, like Tula or LILLEbaby.
When your baby is screaming in the grocery store and you are trying to hold them and shop at the same time, you’ll wish you had a carrier. Take it from me.
This is a must have for any winter or fall baby! You’re gonna need something to keep the cold air off of baby and blankets don’t cut it when the wind is blowing.
An added bonus is keeping germs off baby in stores, and if you’re not feeling social, people are less likely to come try to look at your baby when using the cover!
I could probably write a song about how much I love my boppy pillow. We use it for literally every feeding, making it a definite must have item.
We love that it doubles as a seat and is perfect for my daughter to relax in while sitting on the couch next to me.
The covers come off and are washable, and you can buy new covers if you get sick of the design you have! A boppy pillow will save your arm from falling off every time you feed your little one!
This is something you will want to keep extras of, because you do not want to run out!
New parents have enough to worry about without gas pains causing issues!
This is another one that seems obvious, but some try to cut corners on a good bag. I went with a diaper backpack that has plenty of room for baby’s stuff and mine too!
It has an insulated side pocket for keeping bottles cold, (or pizza rolls warm, am I right?)
There is a side pocket specifically for baby wipes and it came with a wipe holder, changing pad and a small bag that I use to keep dirty clothes from getting the rest of the stuff dirty.
I overall cannot imagine leaving the house without this diaper bag, it has been a life saver!
Everyone’s list of must haves will differ, so take it with a grain of salt. What items are on your must have list?
